Choosing a hotel in Khon kaen should be easy. Prices are affordable, there are plenty of options. The problem is there are too many options.

Mantra Varee Hotel is located in the heart of Khon Kaen City. It is near Tho-rung Market, Fairy Plaza and Nightlife area. The Mantra Varee has 75 rooms. Facilities include one restaurant, outdoor swimming pool, fitness room,meeting&banqueting rooms, room service, laundry service, car park, airport transfers, free wifi access and 24 hours front desk/security.
The hotel is at +/- 25 minutes walk to the bar and restaurant area and +/- 35 min to the Central Festival.
The Mantra Varee has a large parking for cars and motorbikes, easy access from the airport and its rooms are very comfortable.
The staff are very friendly and give you a good welcome and make you feel at home as soon as you open the door.
Rooms are modern, well equipped with an en-suite bathroom with street view or pool view. King-size bed, safety deposit box, LCD TV, tea and coffee with hotpot water, fridge and all the useful toiletry in the bathroom.
The breakfast in the morning is a buffet breakfast with Thai and western food. The breakfast is very good except for the coffee but you have a nice Thai shop at 200m. (I really like a good espresso coffee in the morning).
There is a little gym room with a few fitness machines, that’s enough to keep you in shape for a while. The pool area has tables and chairs to seat or dinks and sunbath chairs too. There is no bar at the pool however there is a telephone where you can order food and drinks.

Hotel La Villa Khon Kaen
La Villa is perfect for families with children, there are rooms with 2 double beds and a large balcony. The pool is looking green but is due to the colour of the tiles. The parking is small for travellers coming in a car but there are some free spaces near a restaurant where you can park.
Rooms are well equipped and comfortable, good wifi and with a lot of storages, free coffee, teas and water.
There is room on the ground floor that are wheelchair friendly walking shower.
The buffet breakfast is very good and there is an automatic coffee machine with fresh beans for coffee lovers.
The swimming pool area is surrounded by plants and small pond fish, perfect to have a drink while the kids are playing in the water.
The hotel is located at +/- 50 min walk to the Central Festival, not too far from the highway Prachasamoson (350 meters) and in a quiet street, no noise at night. 7/11 is a 10 min walk and the PTT jiffy shop is a 5 min walk.

Nan Lakeside
Hotel recommended for budget travellers, clean and comfortable rooms with good wifi, small fridge with free water and air-conditioned. There is a small parking near the hotel so it will not be a problem for travellers with cars.
Nan Lakeside is located near Ban Kok road, a few minutes’ walk to local restaurants and markets. it’s a good place to stay overnight in khon kaen for travellers in transit to another destination or to pass a few days and explore the city.
there are traffic jams during the rush hour in Ban Kok rd. This hotel is not so far from a big lake where there is plenty of bars and restaurants near the Chaiyaphruek village. (2 km)

le Glacier
Le Glacier has a very good location, in the city centre, close to bars, restaurants and shops ( central Festival at 10 min).
The parking is not so big and some have to park outside in the street and this area can be busy at night.
The staff was very polite and friendly and the check-in was smooth. The room looked modern with all the amenities with small space between the bed and the wall. Overall it was clean, a little bit old but clean. There is a window separating the bathroom from the bedroom with no curtain. The pool is half inside and that was a little bit disappointing because it does not feel like a holiday hotel but more like a public pool. Nothing to say about the breakfast, a classical buffet with western and Thai food. The best feature of this hotel is its location, close to the nightspot of khon kaen, this area becomes lively after 6 pm.

Kosa Hotel & Shopping Mall
Near shopping centre, bars and night street food. This Hotel is 80’s style and the reception area make you back in time. The kosa is a little bit old but the room and common area are clean. When you stay at Kosa, you need to book a room on the upper floor because it’s quieter and the view is great. The breakfast has a lot of choices Western, Chinese and Thai food. The breakfast room has an 80s atmosphere, we go back in time to the kosa :).
Facilities are great, very good pool area ( and deep, be careful with kids) with a view on the bar street. The hotel has a steak house/bar outside and it is very comfortable and feels welcome, you should have a try.
Nothing to say about its location who is the best, in the city centre.

Another budget hotel. Recommended for budget travellers or a one-night stopover.
Large parking, so no problem for those who travel by car and easy to find.
It’s a budget hotel, you can consider this choice to stay and enjoy the city of Khon kaen on a budget, it’s far from the city centre and you need a motorbike or a car. Tuk-tuk and taxi can be called at the reception desk.
Overall the hotel is clean, the corridors are a little bit noisy but no street noise.
The breakfast is a standard buffet, only bread with jam, eggs and cereal for the western food. A few Thai dishes for the Thai breakfast.
